In Wells, within the Wells Reserve at Landholm, is this map with a marker locating you within the Wells National Estuarine Rseearch Reserve.
To get there, from U.S. 1, find Laudholm Farm Road and follow that road and signs to the parking lot. From the parking lot, walk on the trail by the barn, first to the house which is where the visitor center is located to pay the admission fee, then walk straight out of the house toward the flagpole where the sign is near.
The sign is slightly angled and shows the entire reserve. The sign shows different land owners in colors. The marker shows that you are near the northern end. The entire research reserve is cooperative effort between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Laudholm Trust, and additional land owners include the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, The state of Maine, and the town of Wells.
