Benchmark set by the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1942. The benchmark is located along F.S. Rd. 4668500 an early road from Odell Lake to Elk Lake (replaced by today’s Cascade Lakes Hwy).

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1942 1.6 MI N FROM ODELL LAKE LODGE. ALONG ELK LAKE ROAD, 0.9 MILE NORTHEAST OF OREGON STATE HIGHWAY 58 15 FEET SOUTH OF CENTER LINE OF ROAD, AT TURN OF ROAD, IN LARGE BOULDER. WITNESS POST SET.
This description is out of date but the location is correctly shown on the USGS Odell Lake quadrangle. The benchmark can be reached from the junction of F.S. Rds. 4660, 4664, and 4668 south east of Davis Lake. From the junction go southwest on F.S. Rd. 4668 for 3.1 miles to junction with F.S. Rd. 4668500, and then go southwest another 0.7 miles to location of PB0518. The benchmark is located about 25 south of road centerline at base of fill slope. The benchmark is not in its original location was rolled down the slope when the road was widened years ago. The benchmark is now on the side of the boulder about a foot above the ground.
