The strikingly different tombstones of mother and son, both Woodmen tombstones, stand next to one another at Cisco's historic Oakwood Cemetery.
The mother's tombstone is a grey and black square granite monument, topped with a log. Two branches are bent to surround an arched entry to the Pearly gates of Heaven. We think her husband (whi is buried on her other side under a non-WoW tombstone) picked it out.
Her tombstone reads as follows:
"[In Memoriam Woodman's Circle]
SARAH J.
Wife of
W. A. KINSEY
Born May 17, 1856
Died Dec 12, 1909
She was a kind and affectionate wife. A good mother and a friend to all."
Next to this dark, block memorial stands an elegant white marble traditional WoW tree trunk memorial for her son. It looks almost feminine in its gracefulness. Blasterz frankly think she chose it. The marker reads as follows:
"[Woodmen of the World seal]
JAS. A KINSEY
Born
Oct 10, 1874
Died
Feb 20, 1899
[Easter lily]
[On base]
Member of Cisco Camp No. 500
ERECTED BY
Woodmen of the World"
