The renaissance castle built over older stronghold is mentioned in local legends about a folk king. The castle had been rebuilt in 17th century for the Olomouc archbishop as hunting lodge, and reconstructed again later in 19th century.
The chateau’s Hall of Knights has a rich collection of weapons from the Thirty Years’ War.
The chateau also features memorials to the painter Emil Filla, a Chropyne native, and to composer Emil Axman. Other interesting item is the folk's king table decorated with motives of cutlery and rose.
