Sorge is a small 100-souls village in the Harz Mountains. Its train station rose to dubious fame during the cold war, as it was the westernmost train station in East Germany, directly at the then heavily guarded Iron Curtain.
Today, the railroad that once ended here has been rebuilt and the journey from the last village in the former East to the first village in the former West only takes a few minutes. |

Today, the station is part of the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways system. The Trans-Harz-Railway, one of the three lines of the system runs in North-South direction through one of Germany's most scenic areas - the Harz Mountains - which makes this station a popular tourist destination.
Also, located directly at the station is the "Border Museum", a history museum about the time when the cut through Germany and Europe went right through this village.
