This monument is on the County Courthouse square. It was erected in honor of the local Confederate soldiers of Wharton County (Texas) who perished during the Civil War.
It is a simple 4-sides granite column, 3 sides of which are covered with the names of the Wharton soldiers who gave their lives in the conflict. The main side reads:
