The summit of Maiden Peak is at an elevation of 7,818 feet and is reached by trails from the west and east (5 to 6 miles depending on route) with about 2900 feet of elevation gain.
Maiden Peak is the summit of a small shield volcano (about 4 to 5 miles in diameter) that was formed between 120,000 to 25,000 years ago (Sherrod, D.R. and Smith, J.G., 2000, Geologic Map of Upper Eocene to Holocene Volcanic and related rocks of the Cascade Range, Oregon, USGS Map I-2569)
The northeast flank of the summit cone was carved away by glaciers during the last ice age forming a large cirque.
