This plaque commemmorates the life of Herbert Austin, specifically regarding the building of Austin Village from 1916 on to house the ever expanding workforce at his Longbridge car factory which was producing military equipment for WWI.

The plaque (see image) refers to the chalet-style cedar wood bungalows imported from the USA.
