Petr Bezruc, vlastním jménem Vladimír Vašek (1867–1958), žil zde v Kostelci samotárským životem od roku 1939 v tzv. Cerveném domku (dnes je zde pametní sín Petra Bezruce). Autor publikoval pouhou jedinou básnickou sbírku – Slezské písne, která byla preložena do mnoha svetových jazyku, a vytvoril nekolik samostatných básní a povídek. Nekteré básne ze Slezských písní zhudebnil Jarek Nohavica.
