Masonic lodges were formed in 1804, 1822, and 1853, later they merged with the Oxford Post 175 in 2005. The building was sold in the 1990s.

"The 1878 Masonic Temple is the tallest building in the Broad Street-Main Street Historic District (Chenango County Courthouse District). It is a five story brick structure with a mansard roof and cast iron first floor store front. It was built by William Breese, a prominent citizen of Norwich."
