The Dornick Hills Country Club is located on the north side of Ardmore, just to the east of Highway 77. It consists of an 18-hole, Par 70 golf course, and was designed and constructed beginning in 1914 by Perry Duke Maxwell. The land was part of Maxwell's own dairy farm. His theory on course design can be summed up with this quote: "The less of man's handiwork, the better the course." He believed that you studied the land and its features and built the course around that. He did little dirt work and made few changes to the landscape.

This country club consists of a long two-story club house, built in 1948, which replaced the original built in 1914, which burned in 1944. There is also a pro shop, and a non-contributing swimming pool complex. The Maxwell family cemetery is located on a high bluff which overlooks the 7th fairway. It was built by Maxwell in honor of his wife Ray, who died in 1919 and is the burial site for Perry Maxwell, his wife, children and in-laws. The country club has a pro shop and dining and meeting rooms, which can be rented for events.

The first four holes of the golf course were constructed in 1914, with five additional holes by 1915. The full 18-hole course was completed in 1924. Little has been done to alter the original design, with some minor changes, and the maturation of all the trees throughout the rolling countryside.

Perry Maxwell built 75 courses during his lifetime, and rebuilt fifty others. Many are among the top courses in the country. Born on June 13, 1879, Maxwell passed away on November 17, 1952.
