"Hanagans Heros Bob Hanagan was very proud to have served with General Patton during WWII. Some time after the War, he opened Hanagan's Tavern on Binghamton's Southside. At the beginning of the Vietnam War, many of Bob's young patrons began enlisting in the military or were drafted into the Army. Bob wanted to pay tribute to these young "warriors", so he put up a sign that read: "Hanagan's Heros" and began writing the names of all the young men who went into the service during the War. The young men who served in the military appreciated this recognition and have placed this monument here, near the site of Hanagan's old tavern, in his honor with our grateful appreciation for his tribute to those who served our Country during the Vietnam War."
