Built of brick with a rendered finish in 1899/1900 the East Fremantle Town Hall included offices and accomodation for the Town Clerk. It was officially opened by the Premier, Sir John Forrest on May 19th 1900. In 1902 a Library and Mechanics Institute were added to the rear of the building.
