DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1935 (CAS) THIS INTERSECTION STATION IS THE TOWER ON THE GRANITE AND RED SANDSTONE HOPKINS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, IN THE TOWN OF SULPHUR SPRINGS, TEXAS. THE TOWER IS ABOUT 40 FEET S OF THE CENTER LINE OF JEFFERSON STREET, AND ABOUT 60 FEET E OF THE CENTER LINE OF CHURCH STREET. BENCH MARK N 276-1934 IS IN THE CORNER OF THE BUILDING. THE TOWER WAS ERECTED IN 1894 AND IS QUITE PROMINENT. THE COURTHOUSE IS ABOUT 80 FEET HIGH. THE TOWER IS A STONE STRUCTURE WITH ARCHED OPENINGS ON EACH SIDE AND ROUND, RED-CAPPED BUTTRESSES AT EACH CORNER. THERE IS A SLOPING RED-TILED ROOF OVER EACH OF THE OPENINGS. ABOVE EACH ROOF THERE ARE 3 SMALL ARCHED WINDOWS. THE TOWER IS ABOUT 30 FEET HIGH. THE SPIRE-LIKE FOUR-SIDED RED-TILED ROOF IS ABOUT 20 FEET HIGH AND HAS A GREY FINIAL AT ITS APEX. THE TOTAL HEIGHT IS ABOUT 130 FEET.
