He is from the Stanfield family of Stanfields Underwear fame, which has been manufactured in Truro since 1870.

Since that time, nearly 50 wooden pieces of art have been completed around the approximately 5-mile long "Sculpture Route" in downtown Truro and environs.
Mr Stanfield's effigy was the 10th to be completed and stands next to the Truro Town offices at 1 Church Street.
