"Ross Park, Park Ave. and Morgan Road consists of more than 100 acres of wooded slopes, shady drives, paths, and picnic sites. It contains a deer park, a wading pool, tennis courts, and the municipal zoo, a large collection of American and foreign wild life."
Land was donated by Erastus Ross. Electric trolleys used to run from downtown to the park which had roller coasters and swings a miniature train and a carousel. The carousel is still there. The Discovery Center is uphill from the zoo. The original entrance gates are not used. There is also land above the zoo which was a picnic area which has gone wild. The old cages have been replaced.
