The sign reads as follows:
ROBERT HALBERT
BATTIE HALBERT
Robert, born June 11, 1891 in Fort McKavett Texas, and died September 16, 1983. Battie, born December 14, 1894 in Florence, Texas and died November 26, 1991. They met while attending Howard Payne College and married July 12, 1912. Two daughters survive, Allie (Mrs, Vestel Askew) and Bobbie (Mrs. Lee Fawcett). Both continue their local ranching heritage. Robert was a noted sheepsman but was known world-wide as a premier breeder of Polled Hereford cattle. He served as president of Texas and National Polleds Associations, and exhibited cattle nationwide, producing many champions. Halbert’s Herefords sold to several foreign countries. His priorities were family, friends, community, the Sonora Methodist Church, and his livestock.
