This sign is one of 22 along Water Street on the west side of the Sutton County Courthouse. This sign preserves the history of teh Joe Berger family.

The sign reads as follows:

"JOE BERGER
1888 – 1958

Joe's uncle, Fred, arrived in Sutton County about the time of the counties organization. Working on the Ft. Terrett Ranch, Joe was born in Austria and emigrated to Sonora in 1907, married Velma Mittle in 1922. Joe and Velma made land available to Sonora for construction of the Airport, Golf Course, City Park, Rodeo Grounds, and 4-H Building. Great supporter of the Lions Club.

Children – Wilfred 1925 – 1971.

Grandchildren -- Kristi D and Larry Joe Berger."
