This sign is one of 22 along water Street on the west side of the Sutton County Courthouse. This sign preserves the history of The Felipe & Tomasa Lara Virgen family, early Hispanic residents of Sonora.

The sign reads as follows:

"FELIPE & TOMASA LARA VIRGEN

Felipe came from Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico, with three sons in 1907 to work at the Fawcett Ranch. In 1910. He brought all of his family to Sonora. Leonardo, Teodoro, Eligio, Felipe Jr. and Andres married in Sonora. Euphemia, the only daughter, did not marry reared her six nieces and nephews who were orphaned as children. Their names were Isidoro, Alfred, Pedro, Emilio, Estella, and Felipe III. Felipe gave the site for the first Catholic Church. He died in 1925 at age 85. Tomasa died 1959, at age 88.
