A marker on the building reads:

DRYING KILN OF TURAIDA ESTATE

Building with Classical style features was built in the second half of the 19th century at the foot of the hill so that the ramp for grain delivery would be situated on a natural elevation. Until the middle of the 20th century the building was used to dry rye, barley, wheat and other grains. From 1971 to 1997 the building housed a cafe.

The drying kiln is located in the territory of the Specially Protected Cultural Monument - Turaida Museum Reserve.
