Myrick's Alberton Ltd. 1899 - 1979 mural features an insert of Wes and Perley Hardy also a street scene complete with horse and wagon.
Myricks Alberton Ltd. was established in 1899 and was purchased by Perley and Wes Hardy in 1959 from Bill Fraser estate, formerly of Alberton. Initially, a gas pump operated at the front of the store and feed was sold from the back.
Over the next 20 years it grew to include six levels of goods including self-service groceries, toys, clothing, paint and building supplies, hardware and delivery service. It was one of the largest department stores west of Summerside.
In 1979. the Hardy Bros sold the Myrick's name to Holman's of PEI Ltd. Perley says "there are a lot of great memories for everyone to cherish".
This is one of 16 murals located on the streets of Alberton. The mural was sponsored by The Hardy Family, Alberton Mural Committee, and the Town of Alberton.
