In Wells, within Wells Reserve, is this benchmark disk issued by NOAA in cooperation with other entities.

To reach the mark, from U.S. Route 1, take Laudholm Farm Road and follow it to the end (there is a right turn - look for a sign for the Wells Reserve at Lauholm). Park at the parking lot, then walk to the farm house (there is a small admission fee to walk on the property). From there, proceed south east about 100 ft to a flag pole and to the monument about 20 ft west of the base.

The monument is approximately 1 ft in diameter and set in a concrete base, along with the cardinal point letters, N, E, S, and W. On the face, the main design is the NOAA logo, with an abstract of marsh grass on the left and a wave representing water. Below the wave is the following text:

"National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
National Estuarine Research Reserve System
National Geodetic Survey"

In the center is a triangle survey mark.

This is an unusual mark. For its 200th Anniversary, NOAA had issued and installed several styles of survey disks. The page link included below is for the series that this mark is part of, the National Estuarine Research Reserves (NERR). This disk was installed in 2004. I do not see this disk in the NGS database.

The mark is in good condition. There is some chipping at the bottom of the design, and general abrasions all around. Also, the letter W still retains some of the original yellow paint.
