"In 1880 the land on which the circus is now and its property were acquired by a well-known circus performer - Albert Salamonsky. Every summer, he came to Riga to deliver on its site a tent and show the program in which he took part. However, the tent was small and Salamonsky decided to build a stone building. The current building was constructed in the circus in 1888 by the architect Frederick John Baumanis. The Circus building is unique in that the design is very original and the dome was invented. At the base of the design are the most common railroad tracks:16 columns. Each column consists of three connected by rail, and keep the dome of the circus. The Circus building is an architectural monument of national importance. Representations in Riga Circus are held throughout the year, but especially during its traditional winter season (from October to late March)."
