Yes, the prairie dogs will actually cross the road, so be careful. They tend to be more plentiful on the south side of the road -- they do peek out on the north side, however -- and there are signs providing background on their habits, as well as warning of feeding or interacting with them. There is a pullout just up the road from here where you can park to appreciate and photograph them.
