Bote Mountain Trail, at 6.9 miles in length, follows the ridge of Bote Mountain to the Appalachian Trail near Spence Field. The trail follows a road built in the 1850's to reach the Tennessee/North Carolina state line at the crest of the Smokies. From the Bote Mountain Trail trailhead at Laurel Creek Road (WMCDCQ), the hiker will come to several other trails, the West Prong Trail at 1.2 miles (WMCFR7), Finley Cane Trail at 1.4 miles (WM), Lead Cove Trail at 4.0 miles (WMPWP0), and the Anthony Creek Trail at 5.2 miles (WMPNQ6).
