Electricity substation No 4 is a two storey red brick building with stucco detailing, constructed in 1914 in the Federation Warehouse style. Four substations were constructed by Perth City Council to operate as the main line substations in conjunction with the State Government’s East Perth Power Station (1916), It was used as an electricity substation into the twentyfirst century and was only decommissioned when new technology made it obsolete. It still retains most of the operating machinery used until the building was decommissioned.
Creation date: 1915
