William "Buffalo Bill" Cody was easily one the most exciting, image-stirring figures of the American West. His careers included trapper, bullwhacker, Pony Express rider, wagon master, Civil War soldier and military scout. He was best known for his creation and promotion of the famous Wild West shows which toured the world. His life and exploits became the subject of pulp books and magazines which grew his legend even larger. He has been portrayed in movies, on television and is still one of the most recognized Western characters around the world.
