Now located on the Lunenburg wharf, the Cape Islander was the first fibreglass commercial fishing vessel in the Maritimes.

The Cape Islander was built in 1962, and represents the shift away from traditional wooden hull fishing vessels.

it remained in service primarily as an instructional vessel for the maritime fishing fleet until 1986. It then ended up at the Maritime Museum in 1990.
