Where apples are grown, one sometimes finds an oversized one, such as this. In Kelowna, BC, the centre of BC's apple industry, there is also a big apple, somewhat similar to this one.

The major reason for this park's being seems to be as the site which contains Berwick's "Big Apple". It is certainly the centerpiece of the park. Given that the town of Berwick has styled itself "The Apple Capital of Nova Scotia", this apple certainly makes an appropriate symbol for the town. We assume the park to have been a project of the Berwick Lions Club, given its name.
The park consists primarily of an open grassed area with both mature and young trees scattered about. There is a bench at the front, situated as to allow one to sit and gaze at the apple, while at the back of the park is a picnic table. A flower bed surrounds the big apple, as well.
The park has, in the past, hosted the Berwick Farmers' Market and, hopefully, will again in the future.
Th Big Apple stands atop a steel column in Lions Park, on the east side of Commercial Street and immediately south of the Berwick Town Hall, Library and Gymnasium.
