Despite the vintage gas pump on site representing Texaco, the gas station was always affiliated with Esso. Since 1997, the Roy Rump & Sons station has not offered any gas pump service.
Roy D Rump has been in the auto service industry since the early 1950s. He purchased this particular station in 1966. The northern portion of this station dates from about 1960. According to the Ottawa city directory material, the station was run by Don Beierle in 1961 and then known as Brennan's Esso Service by 1965. In 1958, the site was still a farmer's field, overlooking the railway to the south which would eventually become highway 417.
