By the 1980s, Dr Robert Russell and Edna Mildred (DORLAND) DUNBAR were residing in Penticton, British Columbia. Robert died in Penticton, 21 December 1988 (British Columbia death registration #1988-09-022255). On that same day, Pan Am Flight 103 crashed near Lockerbie, Scotland.

Edna also died in Penticton, 11 February 1981 (British Columbia death registration #1981-09-002828). The focus of newspaper headlines at that time was the tragedy of the arson fires set at the Las Vegas Hilton.

Robert and Edna's son, William Dorland Dunbar, was born 10 October 1914, the day that the city of Antwerp in Belgium fell to German troops.

According to the Manitoba birth registration (#1888-001254), Robert Russell DUNBAR, son of William Henry DUNBAR and Mary Harriet RODDICK, was born in the regional municipality of Cornwallis, 4 May 1888.
