Begun circa 1976, this cemetery predates the beginning of its church by 44 years. This church was not completed until 1855 and was consecrated the next year, on August 15, 1856. The earliest tombstone in the cemetery is that of Cornelius Duhy, son of Mathew Duhy, dated 1849. We take this as an indication that there are now many unmarked graves in the cemetery.

The cemetery is still in use, as is the church, and now contains approximately 3,650 known burials. In the cemetery are a veterans' section and another containing the remains of many past priests of the parish. In January of 2007 it was designated a Local Heritage Property by the Village of Memramcook.

This is one of the many Acadian cemeteries in the Maritimes, created by Acadians after their return from deportation by the British in 1755. To this day Memramcook remains a French speaking town, populated by the descendants of those Acadians who returned.
