"Igreja de traça Barroca, construida na segunda metade do séc. XVIII. Para aqui se transferiu o Recolhimento do Ferro, inicialmente situado na Rua Escura. Segundo um autor do séc. XVIII, o nome adevém-lhe de um ferro que atravessava a parta da primitiva igreja. Esta ficava próxima das antigas cadeias e, segundo a tradição, o ferro livrava da mort os condenados que o alcançassem."

"A church of Barroque design buit in the XVIII century. This church was first established in Rua Escura, near the old prisons, and was eventualy occupied by the iron convent. The convent took is name from the iron bolt that crossed the door of the primitive church. Acording to tradition any prisoner lucky enough to reach the bolt was saved from dead."
