Island Park Esso Service dates back to 1938 when it opened as a service station for Imperial Oil Limited. According to Ottawa city directory material, the manager in 1941 was W Gordon Egan. The station has always offered full service car-side and continues to do so in the twenty-first century. John Newcombe, owner of the station since 1974, takes great pride in the old fashioned service.
