Convent Church of the Nativity of Virgin Mary (Klášterní kostel Narození Panny Marie), key architectonic and historic component of Doksany Praemonstratensian convent in village Doksany, is five-aisle Baroque basilica with medieval Romanesque core. The beginning of the convent and also the church of the Nativity of Virgin Mary in Doksany dates back to the year 1144 when it was founded by Princess Gertruda as a Sisters' Convent of the Monastery of Strahov in Prague. The still unfinished Romanesque three-aisle basilica-type church was consecrated by Olomouc' bishop Jindrich Zdík in September 19, 1145. The church was during its existence damaged several times (Hussite Wars and Thirty Years' War) and also was several times reconstructed. The last principal Baroque rebuilding of the church in the 17-18th centuries completely changed its austere medieval appearance. The original Romanesque structure is preserved in the church walls and also beautiful Romanesque crypt remained intact. The Baroque reconstruction is work of many prominent Baroque artists - e.g. Giulio Broggio and Giovanni Maderna (1674–1682). The cupola and eastern tower is work of Tomáš Haffenecker (1718).
