This sculpture is set in the area between the Library and Hall Croft and reflects Shepshed's long and close association with sheep and the production of wool.
Encircling a dedication plaque above are hoof prints of both ewe and lamb.

"The subject matter of this sculpture - a Border Leicester sheep and her lamb – was chosen for the meaning of the town’s name – Sheep’s Head. Carved approximately twice life size they are backed by a huge slab of green slate bearing the name of the market place, the contrast and size making them visible from the far end of the street. On the reverse side is a double seat, again carved from white limestone, which resembles rolled sheep fleeces with a pair of shears lying on top.
