The Kiwanis Club of Greenfield has erected an historical marker about Greenfield on Main Street on the north side of Court Square Park.

A double sided historical marker detailing the history and importance of Greenfield, MA has been donated and erected by the local Kiwanis Club. The gray marker has white raised lettering and is identical on both sides. An image of the Poet's Tower, a town landmark, is in the center of a circle. Above is written Town of Greenfield and below the year 1753. The marker is further inscribed:

The first American cutlery factory is the Green River Work started by John Russell in 1834. It later became the site of the tap and die pioneering company of Wiley & Russell Co., and after 1912, the Greenfield Tap & Die Company.
