In Marshfield, along Hollister Hill Road, is the Hollister Hill Farm.
The farm is uphill from the center of Plainfield and Marshfield. There are several ways to get there. The farm is on both sides of the road. The house, which is also a bed and breakfast inn, is on the left, while the farm store and barns are on the right. Parking is by the farm house.
The farm house is a brick structure 2 1/2 stories tall. There is a central door in the front, and a porch off the north side. The barns are plain structures a story in height close to the house. If you visit the store, you may be able to visit inside the barn to see the animals, including barn cats. At the house, they raise golden retrievers, as well. They also produce maple syrup from the trees on the property.
The farm started in 1972 when the Light family left the suburban lifestyle and moved to a location in Vermont with 25 acres, then, later this location with over 200 acres. Their web site details how they gave up the suburban life to start farming in Vermont. They currently raise and sell a variety of produce including beefalo meat, pork products, and chicken.
