Impressive bas-relief sculpted in bronze affixed to the base of the 85' monument in Oriskany Battlefield State Historic Site, off Rte 69 south of Rome.
It is one of two bas-relief pieces on the monument. The other features a wounded Gen Herkimer directing the fight against the British forces.
This piece, by an unknown artist, is dated 1883.
