The Texas Trail of Fame website (see link) has one of the old show's advertisements, as well as some backround:
Founded in 1893, the 101 Ranch was famous across the country for its touring Wild West shows. The Miller brothers, who owned the ranch, found themselves involved in the formation of Hollywood and western movies. Their re-creation of life in the West captured the imaginations of Americans across the country who longed to preserve the frontier. Over the years, they employed a number of stars such as Tom Mix, Bill Pickett, and Ruth Roach. They took their show around the world and helped make the cowboy image the icon it is today.
