This benchmark is embedded in the concrete on the west side of a small dam on the Consolidated Canal in Chandler, Arizona. The canal was originally created by the Hohokam native people prior to the 1400's and was re-established by farmers in the late 1900's seeking to bring water to their crops in the Salt River valley. This small dam controls the flow of water and traps debris. Sadly, most of the debris is empty plastic water bottles. The benchmark is a gray metal disk surrounded by calk holding it to the concrete. Across the top is stamped SRP. Below that 28.5 E followed by 6.5 S. On the bottom of the disk is 1993. It is located approximately 64.8 feet southeast of the southeastern edge of Willis Road at a heading of 127.79 degrees and 454.9 feet North of the Northern edge of the 202 freeway where it passes over the canal at a heading of 1.15 degrees.
