This memorial to Don Hull stands amidst one of his development projects, the Rio Salado. Don Hull was the City of Tempe Community Development Director from 1970 to 1987. During his stewardship, The City of Tempe expanded from 25 to 40 square miles with a doubling of population. He was responsible for the revitalization of the downtown area, the development of a large public park and the completion of the Rio Salado Project. The Rio Salado cleaned up the dry Salt River bed and created a lake. Both sides of the river bed were re-landscaped with native plants and a very attractive riverside was reborn. This dedication took place in 2014.
