The Mountain Home Motel, originally The Bengoechea Hotel was founded in 1910 by a wealthy sheepman Jose (Joe) Bengoechea. The building is a focal point of Basque-American culture in Mountain Home, Idaho. The Bengoechea Hotel and its surrounding area are known as "The Bengoechea Block". In June 2007 the building was sold to Mirazim Shakoori who has since done restoration to the building and grounds.
There was also another hotel located across the street near the courts, The Anchustegui Hotel, that burned down in 1984.
