The railway station of Diepflingen is a small one-story building of raw stones in the northwest of town. There is no parking and it can only be accessed by a small pedestrians road.
The railway line opened in 1857 connecting Sissach to Läufelfingen. In 1858 the Hauenstein summit tunnel opened and connected Basel with Olten. This line became one of the busiest in Switzerland. Diepflingen did not have a station in the early years, but I could not find the date when it opened.
In 1916 the Hauenstein base tunnel opened and turned the original track into a lesser side line. Since then this line has not been used by long distance traffic any more on a regular base.
The line is the S9 of the Basel commuter rail system. There is one train every hour to Olten or Sissach.
