This bench was placed as part of an Eagle Scout Project that was dedicated in 2006 honoring all World War II Veterans int the city of Uniontown. There are 15 benches in the WWII memorial area alone at the Fayette County Courthouse Complex. Names on the granite plaques, total over 3,000 individuals from the City of Uniontown who served their country in its time of need.
This bench was placed by a regional Home Improvement Company of 500 Stores, of which the CEO was county commissioner for Fayette County from 2003-2007, at the time this memorial was built outside the courthouse complex. Furthermore the two individuals noted as supporting the veterans, are the CEO and his daughters, benefactors to not only this memorial, but other revitalization projects in the Uniontown Area.
