The Battle of Bataan (WWII) - Uniontown, Pennsylvania



This bench was placed as part of an Eagle Scout Project that was dedicated in 2006 honoring all World War II Veterans int the city of Uniontown. There are 15 benches in the WWII memorial area alone at the Fayette County Courthouse Complex. Names on the granite plaques, total over 3,000 individuals from the City of Uniontown who served their country in its time of need.

This bench was placed by a benefactor of the memorial, of which was a Vietnam Veteran that dedicated his bench to the Battle of Bataan, of which, represented the most intense phase of Imperial Japan's invasion of the Philippines during World War II. In January 1942, forces of the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy invaded Luzon along with several islands in the Philippine Archipelago after the bombing of the American naval base at Pearl Harbor.
