This bench was placed as part of an Eagle Scout Project that was dediccated in 2006 honoring all World War II Veterans int the city of Uniontown. There are 15 benches in the WWII memorial area alone at the Fayette County Courthouse Complex. Names on the granite plaques, total over 3,000 individuls from the City of Uniontown who served their country in its time of need.
This bench was placed by benefactors of the memorial , Shirley Cerevnak, and her daughter, Patrica. Their Husband and Father, respectively was Killed In Action during WWII on May 11, 1945 in Okinawa, Japan during the bombings there. He was a Seaman First Class. Furthermore, because of his efforts protecting the freedoms of the United States, his wife Shirley received the Gold Star Award, of which is given to the next of kin of military members of the Armed Forces of the United States who lost their lives of WWI & WWII and subsequent armed hostilities of the United States.
