The Carousel was built in 1918 and has been at Perth Zoo since 1947. Originally it carried 20 horses and two boats, but in 1968 the two boats were removed and replaced with four horses, and so becoming a true carousel. The Perth Zoo Carousel is the only known carousel still in permanent use in Western Australia
