"The Apalachin Library was started in 1957 on the McGalde family’s front porch. From 1960-1082 the library moved to various locations including a school house, the Apalachin Methodist church and the Grange Hall on E. Main St. In 1967, a board called the Friends of the Apalachin Library was formed and in 1968 our reading center became affiliated with the Finger Lakes Library System. After closing for a time, the library, in 1992, relocated to its current location. In May 2008 the Reading Center obtained a provisional charter from NY State and became the Apalachin Library Association."
