The building is located in the Old Town area of Riga. The benchmark is located on the wall of the hotel restaurant's outdoor seating area. It is about 18 inches above the ground. The elevation at the benchmark is 41 feet. The benchmark has "No. 378" on it and has been painted over with a light gray paint.
According to an English translation of information at the Riga City Council's City Development Department website (
visit link) this benchmark is part of the Riga City local geodetic network (hereinafter - the local network), which consists of a physical area of fixed points - earth, hard cover, roof and wall plates whose centers are set precise coordinates. Bottom mark consists of the area encased pillars which are embedded metal stamps. Wall mark consisting of metal marks recognized in the building walls. With geodetic points in the country and the municipality is provided a single Latvian coordinate system - LKS-92nd.
The website also states that intensive urban development and construction growth over the past decade has significantly affected the state of the local network, in addition, part of the adjacent point is no longer usable, since they have lost mutual visibility due to vegetation or buildings.
